Easy Ways to Remove Pet Hair from Furniture and Clothes

If you have a furry friend at home, you know the struggle: your sofa is covered in fur, your black work pants are covered in white hair, and even your “clean” laundry has a layer of fuzz on it. Lint rollers are great, but they are expensive and run out of sticky tape within two minutes.

Here are the most effective, cheap ways to get rid of pet hair:

1. The Rubber Glove Hack (The Best Method)

Put on a standard yellow dishwashing glove and get it slightly damp. Run your hand across your sofa, cushions, or car seats. The rubber creates friction, and the dampness allows the static electricity to lift the hair right off the fabric, bunching it up into a ball that you can easily toss away.

2. The Squeegee Trick

If you have a rubber squeegee (the kind used for windows), it is a powerhouse for carpets and upholstery. Drag the squeegee across your carpet with firm pressure. It pulls deeply embedded pet hair out of the fibers that even a vacuum cleaner misses.

3. Dryer Sheets (The Static Killer)

If you are worried about hair on your clothes, toss a dryer sheet into your dryer with your laundry. The anti-static properties in the dryer sheet loosen the pet hair from the fabric and pull it into the lint trap, leaving your clothes fur-free.

4. Wide Packing Tape

If you don’t have a lint roller, grab a roll of clear packing tape. Wrap it around your hand with the sticky side facing out, and pat your clothes or curtains. It is much wider than a lint roller and has more stickiness, allowing you to clean a large area in seconds.
