We’ve all accidentally left the stove on for too long, resulting in a black, charred mess at the bottom of our favorite pan. Before you throw it out or spend an hour scrubbing, try this “fizzing” method.

The Method Fill the bottom of the scorched pan with about an inch of water. Add a generous amount of baking soda (about 3-4 tablespoons). Bring the water to a boil on the stove. As it boils, use a wooden spoon to gently scrape the burnt bits. Turn off the heat, let it sit for 10 minutes, and then wash with regular soap. The burnt layer will peel right off.
