If you have ever gone to your iPhone settings to clear up storage, you’ve probably seen a mysterious, massive gray bar labeled “Other” or “System Data.” Sometimes it takes up 10GB, sometimes 30GB, and it is impossible to delete with a single button.

1. Clear Safari Cache (The Biggest Culprit) Every website you visit leaves tiny cache files behind. Go to Settings > Safari. Scroll down and tap “Clear History and Website Data.” Warning: This will sign you out of websites you are currently logged into.

2. Offload Unused Apps Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Click an app and select “Offload App.” This deletes the app files but keeps your user data intact for when you reinstall it later.

3. Manage Large Message Attachments Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Messages. Review your large attachments and delete the ones you don’t need.

4. The “Nuclear” Option: Backup and Restore If your “Other” storage is still huge, do a full iCloud backup of your phone, then go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. After the phone reboots, restore from your iCloud backup.
