  • 2 plain or sesame bagels
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese
  • 100g smoked salmon
  • ½ small red onion, very thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • Fresh dill
  • Lemon wedge
  • Black pepper

Let’s Cook — Step by Step

  1. Step 1 — Slice and toast the bagels until golden.
  2. Step 2 — Spread each half generously with cream cheese — more than you think.
  3. Step 3 — Layer smoked salmon on the bottom half.
  4. Step 4 — Add thin red onion slices and capers.
  5. Step 5 — Finish with dill and a crack of black pepper.
  6. Step 6 — Squeeze lemon over the salmon.
  7. Step 7 — Press the top half down.

Kitchen Tip: Slice the red onion as thin as possible — thin enough to be translucent. A mandoline is useful here.
